After more than 100 hours on this game I still jump everytime a croc gets me, even if I know one is near. I was actually busy recording (GeForce ShadowPlay) the very first time I became dinner, totally unexpected, never knew what hit me. :)

A shark got me yesterday, I killed one and skinned it on the ocean floor, turned up and one was almost sitting on top of me.

Earlier today I walked near the edge of the water, shooting some pirates, completely absent minded and a croc got me.

The second one I think could have given me a heart attack, it's when you don't think about it, like what I was doing and then one youst lashes at you and drags you in the water.

I have not killed one yet, but is there anything I can craft from them?

I'm not sure. I've crafted everything there is to craft (game 95% completed now), but I don't specifically remember using croc skin for anything else than selling it. But maybe there was something? ... Can anybody else help out here? ... I'll just say that there is a side mission later in the game that requires you to kill a rogue croc and skin it as evidence, but it has no bearing on the main quest. (OK, more than one of those side missions involve crocs.)

There are so many ways to get killed in this game, but those crocs do it best. I've actually settled in close to many a croc in this game to try and witness it catching its prey, humans included. Sometimes it paid off, but be prepared to waste away some time doing nothing but wait. You usually find crocs where there is aquatic vegetation (they like to conceal themselves that way), so, look out for that ... You've been warned. :)

That freaking alligator got me better than anything in any movie or game ever has. Just strolling along the banks of the river..... OMG... lucky I didn't drop dead from a heart attack.

No, you don't need croc skins for crafting. The skins certainly are worth collecting to sell when you can and I think they rank well as far as value is concerned. The special one (white) you need to get in the side mission will yield a fair reward for doing so but is of no value with regards to items to be crafted.

There is an easy way to get this one and there is a hard way, so consider your options carefully! Or believe me, if you got a fright with the standard crocs........Doesn't matter.........You'll find out!
