Could be an over heating of the gpu or the cpu also.
There is a workaround, but it envolves some addational thigs to make the game work right.
Download the gpu driver from the makers web sight and get this from here

Do not know if it works on win10 home.
Post back if you get it working or not and the errors.
fyi - running Nvidia grafix card.

Question
What are the minimum system requirements for Far Cry 3?
Answer
In order to run Far Cry 3 properly, your PC MUST meet or exceed these minimum requirements:
Minimum System Requirements
Supported OS: Windows XP (SP3) / Vista (SP2) / Windows 7 (SP1) / Windows 8
Processor: 2.66 GHz Intel Core2 Duo E6700 or 3.0 GHz AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ or better
RAM: 4 GB
Video Card: 512 MB DirectX 9.0c-compliant with Shader Model 3.0 or higher (see supported list)*
Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c-compliant (5.1 surround sound recommended)
DVD-ROM: Dual-layer drive
Hard Drive Space: 15 GB
Peripherals Supported: Windows-compatible keyboard, mouse, optional controller (Xbox 360 Controller for Windows recommended)
Multiplayer: 512 kbps or faster broadband connection
Supported Video Cards at Time of Release:
AMD Radeon HD 2900 / 3000 / 4000 / 5000 / 6000 / 7000 series or better
NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX / 9 / 200 / 400 / 500 / 600 series or better
Laptop versions of these cards may work, but are not supported. These chipsets are the only ones that will run this game.
if you had the game running on an Onboard Intel vid chip it had to run the game pretty bad even with your previous operating system
and i doubt you will have any Luck with Windows 10 unless you have an AMD or Nvidia Video card
intel onboard chips are good for general computing, office tasks, and watching movies .. NOT gameing since they do not offer Dedicated Video ram .. and instead use your onboard system ram (this is much slower then most video cards that have Dedicated GDDR 5 ram )
I think i found a solution by chances. It may sounds ridiculous but it works on my system.
Just signout from widows10 when some applications are not responding.
I used Skyrim Mod organizer to do this. launch any application via Mod organizer then signout.
And the application is not responding screen shows up, click "cancel" go back to desktop.
After doing this, You might be able to play farcry3 without any crash.
You can launch any application you need when you playing game like Geforce Experience, Logicool set point, MSI afterburner...
I think I did same thing as clean boot or something. Some background prosesses go wrong with the games using Xaudio2_7 like farcry 3, Alien isolation, Deus ex...
I am not sure about this works for everyone having this problem, but hope it will help.
And Sorry for my bad English.
SmartKidd123, these instructions resulted in something ?
My specs is the Asus G751 gaming laptop with GTX 970m series and i7-4710HQ processor. So All settings are ultra high and with 8GB Ram, doubt i'll have any problem with requirements.
Working fine when using the older Nvidia drivers before windows 10 newer version, After upgrading to Windows 10 nvidia driver cards, the game seems to hang after averaging or 15 - 20 minutes playing. Its constant everytime you play the game......

To proof a point I ran it on my onboard intel chip with the sound chip deactivated. It worked fine for well over the everywhere reported 15 mins. ;)
bwt, don't need to install the latest driver from here either http://www.tenforums.com/drivers-hardware/5993-latest-realtek-hd-audio-driver-version.html
Did not fix the issue for me. In fact the performance of the sound is worse (crackling noises the whole time) and the computer started to lag, even when playing youtube videos.
Let others do it.
Your os should be win7 x64. Best of teh bunch.
