Ubisoft Connect Autologin + Offline Mode [Solved]

I just wasted an hour writing a guide. Here's what it says, if you are googlebinging Steam for a solution, or are still visiting trying to vent off ... uhm ... 'steam', about this ridiculous issues in 2024.

A) How to NOT type in Ubi Account Email + Password, each time you start the game.

1. Open C:\Users\<your-Windows-username>\AppData\Local\Ubisoft Game Launcher\settings.yaml with a notepad

2. Under the sub-section 'masters', you can put in your Ubisoft Account Email (under Username) and password.

    password: " "
    username: " "

3. Save the file and make it 'read-only'.

Done.

[Disclaimer: Your Ubisoft Account username and password are not encrypted on your hard drive. This is a potential security risk.]

B) How to play Offline: Steam & Ubisoft (while the PC can still be online)

1. Open C:\Users\<your-Windows-username>\AppData\Local\Ubisoft Game Launcher\settings.yaml with a notepad.

2. Change the status in the 'user' sub-section from "offline: false" to "offline: true"

3. Save the file and make it 'read-only'

Done.

[Ubisoft removed the 'Offline Mode' UI toggle, but the functionality is still there. The Launcher/Games 'offline mode' also works, when you disconnect from the Internet, but when your PC is online, the Ubi Launcher ALWAYS starts in online mode (unlike the Steam Client) and stays like that, so they can track you and show you to their share holders and investors. 'Offline mode' only works with Ubi games which allow for offline play, of course, like FC3 and FC4 and other, older titles.]

Let's say I got this game under an email that I no longer have (long story but it no longer exists anywhere) and Ubisoft's solution is that I buy the game again with my new email since they can't contact me through my old email to verify that it is me and I have no idea what my password would have been.
Ofc I'm not going to do that. I already bought the game.
My question is, before I take the time to install this again, if I follow your steps to play in Offline mode, is that going to work even though I don't have an email and password for them?

Same problem trying to launch AC Back Flag through Steamplay / Proton.
This is REALLY ANNOYING.

Nothing left but to clearly say to Ubisoft-Corporate:
"Thank you and F.U. very much!"

i almost purchased this game when i saw there was a workaround but ubisoft saved me the $5 by updating ubiconnect.
