I did some research and found that there are new missions in the DLC as well, so I'm shocked to think that I won't be able to do that.
Last year the DLC missions and content were unlocked through a Steam update, so if you install the update and reload your game, you should find extra icons on your map for the DLC missions as well as new weapons and wildlife. This is what Ubisoft should do for all single-player content that requires online activation once servers are decommissioned instead of removing it (like The Lost Archive DLC for ACR).
Thank you for your response!
I didn't realize that the standard edition was effectively the complete edition...
I'm so glad to hear this information because I had assumed that if I bought it now, I wouldn't be able to play the single-player missions and other content added by the DLC!
A pleasure.
Note, however, that this is currently NOT the standard for Ubisoft, and the ULC/DLC unlock may have happened by mistake by Ubisoft. There was no comment in the release notes that unlocking the DLC was intended in the most recent patch. For many of Ubisoft's other games, ULC/DLC that requires online verification, even single-player content, becomes inaccessible when they decommission servers. To make it worse, they continue to sell the content on Steam. For example, Assassin's Creed Revelations Gold Edition is still for sale on Steam, even though none of the Gold Edition is accessible.
So, caveat emptor.
Thank you very much.
Even though the game is many years old, I would like to see any changes in the specifications clearly stated to the users.
I hope that the single-player game experience will be the same for everyone in the future.
It is too sad that some single-player missions and content will not be experienced forever.
Agreed.
if/when you purchase it, check that the Deluxe Edition Content DLC (about 168 MB) is downloaded. I don't know if it was removed from Steam over the past year and half. If you have it, it should automatically unlock now. This is separate from the High Tides DLC, which is co-op and no longer accessible.
Also, do you know if it is also available if brought directly from Ubisoft Connect?
The DLC was unlocked for me after the 2023 patch. It was originally locked when I first purchased it.
You could buy the game, check if the DLC missions appear on your map, and if they don't request a refund.
Sorry, don't know if buying directly from Ubisoft will make a difference.
