How I got this game to play on my new PC
The specs of my new laptop are: i9 13900HX, GTX 4090, 96 GB DDR5, 2x 4 TB WD Black SSDs, 2560 x 1600 240 HZ display, Windows 11. I could not get FarCry 3 to launch.

What worked for me: type "msconfig" in the search window, the System Configuration window will pop up, > Select :"Boot" > then "Advanced Options" > select the box "Number of Cores" then enter "4", hit "apply" and reboot. My game now runs, and at full resolution! If you do this, after you play the game you must then go back to the System Configuration and un-select the "Number of Cores" box, then apply and reboot. Kind of a pain, but this did work for me. If there is an easier way to limit cores, please let me know!

I tried many other fixes, but this was the only thing that worked on my system.

You can also limit the amount of cores a game uses by:
Right-clicking on the game
Selecting Set Affinity
Unchecking the rest of the CPU
Clicking OK

https://steamcommunity.com/app/256290/discussions/0/3825289852129186055/ Follow this guide but but substitute the ChildofLight.exe for the farcry3_d3d11.exe in the game's bin directory. Won't need to limit the cores and reboot the system every time. I also find just setting ProcessorCountLieForHybridCPU without a number works fine.

Seriously thank you so so much for this, it was driving me crazy trying to figure out how to run this game without having to restart my computer every time hahaha!
