When I start the game I get asked which version I want to start
I want to play using only a controller because I play from my couch and have my keyboard and mouse in a cabinet, but when I launch the game I need to mouse to select which version I want to play. How do I stop it from asking?

That is a pretty amusing dialogue box.

I've never seen this before, but I'm wondering if you somehow have multiple versions installed as the result of an upgrade or something like that. One thing you could try is deleting and re-installing the game. If you don't want to do the full download again, you can use Steam's backup facility to back up the game to another part of your disk, remove the game, and then re-install from that backup.

Just select the 'R' registered version, same thing happens to me. I have it on Uplay (my first copy) when it was first released and Steam which I added later to get Steam info etc. plus I wanted it in my Steam library.

If you have a copy on both locations installed, that may be the reason, but don't concern yourself, just select the option I suggested and it should run.

Thanks, Didn't know which version was which. One is regular from uplay that I got for free from buying a video card years ago and the other was deluxe version that was on sale on steam.

Do you know if there's a way of removing the regular one because I use Lauchbox to run all my games and emulators (bigbox) with a controller, and the controller won't let me tick the circle to choose the one I want to run. Have to use a mouse which is a pain since I'm on my couch.

Sorry no, I use KB+M only not a controller.

I wonder if you you just uninstalled your Uplay version (if that's possible for you) and only run the Steam version it could help.

Sorry but I am not familliar with 'Launchbox' or 'Bigbox', so I can't comment on them.

A thought, connect your keyboard etc. and uninstall Uplay version and then revert back to controller. Again, I am not an expert on what you do so it is only a suggestion.

I actually don't have the uplay version installed, it just shows up. Launchbox (bigbox) is a mutigame laucher. the bigbox is like steam's big picture, except it supports emulators. It also will import steam games.

Thanks, I will check it out as a matter of interest and give you my thoughts.

Haha I saw this too, and both choices are 'exactly the same'. But if I choose the first one, uplay crashes with an error that it cannot launch the game. If I choose the second one, it runs just fine like it used too.

I think its screwed up, because I had clicked the 'freebie' in ubi30, and its now double tagged to my uplay account. Wonderful coding those guys do over there.

As for getting it to stop asking? I've found no way yet, and I highly doubt ubisoft support will answer with anything meaningful. I mean the last time I asked them to remove a bogus/broken game entry from my library on uplay they said 'sorry, we cannot remove games from a library, you have to use the "Hide" feature to hide away that broken demo'. Seriously.

Well 'FastEddieFelson', I have looked at both your links and I have no idea what to offer you.

None of that is anything I would ever get involved with, so can't suggest any help.

I have the same thing. I have two versions of the game. I bought one in the store and activated the game through Uplay.

Then I bought the game in Steam when it was on sale for convenience. I had to activate that version through Uplay as well, and now i have two versions in Uplay. Both are identical except that one is the Steam version.

When I start the game through Steam, Uplay is started and Steam sees two possibilities. Even though only one version is installed.

It can't be helped I guess, unless it's possible to completely remove the non-Steam version from Uplay. Which doesn't seem like a good idea.

I just accept that I have to select the Steam version before playing the game.
