Requires 3rd-Party Account: Uplay (Supports Linking to Steam Account)
all the newer Ubi Developed titles Use Uplay as the default DRM ..including FC 3 4 and Primal
if you buy the game on Steam all you do is ADD more DRM .. Steam DRM
if you do decide to get the game remember Steam no longer installs the up to date version of U-play with this games files
here is how to update Uplay (after you install FC 3 from Steam )
1) open task manager, (Win key + X) find the following process: UbisoftGameLauncher.exe, and end the process.
2) After that, go to add \ remove programs in your windows control panel
(press win key + X select apps and features .. look on the right side and select Programs and features) .
select uninstall UPlay and then exit once its done
3) Download and reinstall Uplay PC from https://uplay.ubi.com , as this will update the client to the latest version .
4) Launch the game again.
i had points left over from playing FC 3 + 4 to use in Primal as well as the new AC origins game
still have alot of Uplay points i can use in FC 5 when it ships
steam achievements i never worried about or used for anything
and Uplay is not as bad as many ppl make it sound ..
as long as you set it up properly .. and back up your OWN save files its pretty decent as a game launcher .. i wont ever buy Uplay games on Steam again ..steam charges too much to just add Drm and i don't mind useing Uplay
i just shut off the cloud save setting in Uplay , as yea that can get probematic if you lose power , or just play offline when your internet goes out
see this page https://support.ubi.com/en-US/Faqs/Details/kA030000000enCFCAY?name=how-can-i-manually-back-up-my-save-game
helpful if ya move to a new PC and wanna keep your saves intact
Yes. You need Uplay, however you can still use the steam overlay and it will show up on your steam profile as if you were playing it normally. The only real difference is that there will be no steam achivments
