Citra's Temple and the Ink Monster Game Ending Bug

So I'm playing through the game just fine until I get to this minssion. Drink the potion and the ink monster rises and now I'm dodging demon halitosis. The screen prompting me to "shoot the mask". THe only problem is I hav eno weapons and I can't bring any up. Reading on other forums says you should get equiped with a bow and arrow. So I try again but before I enter the temple I make sure I have a bw and arrow in my inventory. Same problem. I can't bring up a weapon to shoot the bugger.
I was playing through with Swarz Mod so I tried again playing vanilla and have the same issue. Is anyone else having this issue and found a solution. Otherwise is there a way of skipping this mission and completing the game? Other wise except for wandering around this is a game ending bug for me.

You SHOULD have a bow (recurve) with explosive arrows to fire at the mask of the monster. Not sure why it isnt there. try reinstalling or verify game files

Yeah that's what I though but it doesn't let me bring it up even if I go into the mission with it equiped. I will try wht you suggest and see if that changes anything.

keep getting killed because the Q for health restore does not seem to work quick enough

I jumped around a lot and anticipated where he was going to spew next. It got more challenging when his minions started appearing.

355 hours played, never bin this bad before, the minions keep killing me before i can restore health with Q !

Use a trainer for inf health. Then turn it off after

Hmm. I don't remember all the details of how I beat it atm. My biggest issue was getting it to give me my bow so I had a chance.
