12/13 update - just locked out my save game

Need cheat codes unlocked... your latest update just locked out my progress from my profile.
Being forced to start over with nothing is no fun, just broke the game.

Now all my saves and autosaves are broken...
"Current Ship may not be compatible with the latest game version."
Bad programming.

MAY not compatible... Do you know what "may" means?

Just load the most recent save and then save it again.

The message that existing ships "may not be compatible" should not stop you from loading an older save. What happens when you try to open an earlier save?

One save has no ships current being scrapped, and the others are standard game ships (I only have the Warships DLC), but when I load them the game all my tool upgrades, collectibles, and base upgrades are reset. Screenshots are in the SGS2 Community area, 108+ hours gone due to update. Game needs cheat code to boost money back up if this is going to be a side effect of forced updates

You're getting tools reset on *all* your older saves?

Usually the tool reset problem happens on one save only, and trying a different save solves it.

Yes, I had finally progressed to the last tool upgrade and working on the Warships DLC... so I was in-between scraps at the last save. And it's not just the tools, it's the collectible items and office upgrade. Kinda removes incentive to progress when a simple update can wreck the whole progress, and so far NO response from developers. Seems like the ship config should be separate from basic game config or this is going to happen EVERY update

I'm sorry, that's really frustrating. It's definitely not happening for everyone, and "no response from devs" is unfortunately to be expected when your problem starts midday on a Friday and it's not Monday yet - this is an indie studio, they're not 24/7.

I would like to suggest:
1) close the game
2) turn off Steam Cloud Sync
3) open %localappdata% in Windows Explorer
4) navigate to \ShipGraveyard2\Saved\SaveGames\
5) MOVE (do not delete) all but the most recent saved games to another folder - your Desktop, your Documents, it doesn't matter where as long as they're out of the SGS2 folder.
6) start the game and see if you can load one of those saves. If you can't, close the game and move the last saves OUT and a couple of the slightly older saves IN, and try again.
7) if it works, turn Steam Cloud Sync back on.

I suspect your problem is a corrupted save causing your other saves to fail to load, which is a problem they're currently working on. If this fails, I can just *give you* a saved game with all tools unlocked and $100K (there's at least two posted to the Discord), which isn't a great solution but it's a solution.

As a note, the devs pay *way* more attention to the Discord than they do to the Steam Discussion threads. You're more likely to get a faster response there.

(for the record, I am not a developer and I am not employed by the studio or the publisher. I'm just a player with some tech skills who's been involved in the private beta testing for this DLC, and who's been doing his best to help people solve problems because I really like this game.)
