Collapses still not quite right
Here the floating segment of ship is being held up by the vertical walls that are some distance from the hull.

This seems to be a persistent issue. Parts are treated as connected when there's a half meter or more of air between them. The satisfying collapses are the point of the game, so rather disappointing when they don't happen.

It didn't occur to me that the thing that prevents collapse is that a suspended panel is close to a supported panel. Interesting.

My solution to these situations has been to cut the suspended portion roughly in half. In most cases half will fall down, leaving you with a smaller suspended portion. But in some cases both halves fall down, which greatly amuses me, since I can't imagine a bug that would cause that to happen.

Yeah, since the changes to how collapses work, the problem is usually a connection between parts that don't look connected. Every time I've seen it it's been a half-panel away, like there's some goofy rounding error in their code or something.

I've also seen issues where that clearly wan't the case but save/load collapsed those, somehow. Can't even imagine how that bug works.

judging by the pic: back of the ship probably still has intact plates, smack those, it will drop. not sure WHY this is the case, but it might be the solution for you
YES, there is a problem. I just deconstructed the ENTIRE-connected base floor, the only thing remaining is a COMPLETELY disconnected top, that refused to collapse, clearly because the game still has "air" connected walls.

Incidentally in my most recent case, this problem persists on the smaller stuff too "Green Rex".

Agree with the points made here.

I’ll also add that the behavior isn’t consistent. In Kursk, I found a couple of floors that collapsed when only 3 of the 4 sides were broken loose.

That surprised me.

Another thing is it seems like the bigger the ship the more problems with consistent behavior

I think you should post that under bugs... this is specific to the mechanic needing more work regarding structural integrity, which personally I don't see it as a bug, but a mechanic needing further polishing.

What you are going through! OUCH. Devs need to know... sounds like a corrupted save maybe even.
