How can I upgrade crane past level 1?
I might just be missing something, but if I want to buy a new ship to get more liquids it clears my inventory. Yet none of the ships have enough liquids for the lvl 2 crane upgrade. What am I missing?

Make sure you do NOT claim the contracts which use the materials you're trying to save. For instance, if an upgrade requires liquids, do not fulfil a contract that requires oil, because oil is a liquid and you won't have enough left.

Complete a ship. Take everything to the recycling centre.. This should empty your truck. Now the oil is in your warehouse. If you don't have enough yet, buy another ship and complete that one too.

No one says you have to get it all in one go from a single ship, just accumulate until you have enough to buy the upgrade.

When I go to buy a new ship it says "Buying a new ship will clear player, truck and WAREHOUSE resources! recycle first if you haven't done it already."

So the stuff in warehouse stays? Because it says that "player, truck, and warehouses resources" will be cleared when I buy a new ship.

Exactly what it says, you need to enter the recycling center in order to process the materials, afterward it becomes resources in your inventory, scrapping the ship will clear any unprocessed materials.

That's not really clear from what it says but ty for letting me know.

To put it more clearly, materials stored in the warehouse and truck are temporary, it's not added into your inventory until they've been processed (which is what the recycling center is for)

When you scrap the ship, the game erases all elements of the ship, including any unprocessed materials, wiping the slate clean so to speak. So yes, that warning before scrapping a ship is exactly as it sounds, a reminder to process everything before resetting the playing field to a clean state.

The game doesn't really define 'warehouse' so you have to eperiment a bit to figure out what it means. The answer you got is correct: scrapping the ship you're working on does not mess with the amounts of things that have already been recycled and sorted. That's how you do what you originally asked.

Different ships have differing amounts of each type of resource group. When you are buying a ship, look at the 4 coloured lines, hovering over them will tell which group it is, I think liquids are the third line. So do, or repeat ships with longer lines of liquid resources.

Ah that makes sense. Thank you again! I ended up getting the final upgrade. I never needed to not do contracts though, as one of the cruise ships gave me plenty of liquids.
