Floating Cities one hit floors
Why oh why have you made so many floors a one hit object? When I remove connectors along a corridor, on both sides, the floor goes as well. Every other floor in the normal game and other DLC remove top layer, then the bottom. This at least gives you a platform to walk across whilst removing other walls. The first ship had this right at the top and as soon as I went to remove the "top" layer, the whole square broke away and threw me to the ground. Is this just lazy creating?

Not "lazy creating" so much as "replacing standard floors with that kind of single-piece floor lets them use a single object in the place of the *5* objects that a standard floor takes", which lets them get the number of objects down significantly. The engine can't handle ships with as many pieces as they would have.

If it is the engine, then this makes sense. If it is about performance on different machines, then an option of 1 piece or 5 would have been nice. Would be nice to know if it is the engine though.

I prefer the single block floor tile. The split ones with angles not so much.

It's the engine, and there's no way to dynamically swap back and forth.

If, as LowJohn says, the devs are close to the limit on the number of objects, then fine. We can have one-piece floor sandwiches. But then they all have to be like that. The problem isn't with the type of flooring, it's with consistency. I have to know whether the floor is going to drop out or not.

There's also the problem of thin passageways. Dismantling two walls which are one metre apart also destroys the floor panel that was between them. It can lead to situations where you have nowhere to stand on. So far I haven't had to restore an autosave and do things in a different order but a few times I ended up foolishly jumping up and down to hit high rivets.
