Would have been nice to know before I lost 4 heavy objects tryiing to open up the part of the hull in the rear of the sub, the one where the radioactive object is at the top floor. And another one in the middle of the ship before I decided to try cutting them out first. In general, while seeing how many objects there are to loot on Kursk was very fun, trying to open it up was an exercise in frustration where the top hull would sometimes hold onto flooring that isn't even attached to anything (the ladders near the back engines...). Also torch points that were on the next section over instead of on the side they're holding, which got me stuck on a pair of hull pieces for 2 hours before I got around to exploring ahead and realising I didn't melt everything down.
I have to respectfully disagree on this one, I just completed Fuso today with all parts salvaged and nothing lost at all. Happy to provide a save game demonstrating that. I can't speak to Kursk as I haven't done that one in a while, but I did do the Ohio-class before Fuso and got the entire thing out without losing anything.
Ohio done. Easy, no big problems.
I'm glad it worked for you, but as can be seen here, it did not for me

Yeah, explosives wouldn't attach to anything and there was nothing left to remove, that hammer point is part of the exterior hull so....
I've been pondering this exact thing myself. I've restarted Kursk a few times now to try and get those forward half hull sections to budge and so far no matter which way I go about it, it doesn't happen. I'm curious to see what a successful attempt looks like, should probably poke at Youtube or something and see if I can find a commentary free thing or just mute someone's ramblings.
Its not just the hull sections over the ballast tanks, its the two front-most hull sections in front of the sail too.
