Is there a region lock?
I'm trying to play with my friend in Europe except we see completely different server lists show up when ever we try to find each others games. The invite to game feature from the steam overlay doesn't work either. Does anyone know the issue here?

realy did they implement a region lock ?? that sucks

reminds me of Blizzard with diablo 3, telling people that it was so people in the USA have better latency with other people in the USA, then with people in Europe , etc

i had better playability playing with usa persons then my own country lol
the dumbest thing i ever heart, in the age of fiber
I see, thank you for pointing out this issue to us :) We'll see if we can do something about this

Hi, I'm not sure it's an actual region lock. My partner is East Coast USA and I am UK. He tried to start a multiplayer game earlier and I couldn't see his server. I started a new game to host and he could see that one and joined.
Later he had to leave, but when he went to rejoin he could no longer see me. In fact, his list of servers was only 3 long (I could see those servers when I looked). We both tried restarting the game and he also restarted Steam but he still couldn't see me.
He tried hosting again and this time I could see him.
The game I am hosting is a private server. The three he can see are also private servers.
Hope this helps diagnose the issue.
To be able to play with your friends from other region without the need to create private server one of you should go to the download settings on Steam and change the region from for example US to EU. Once you have the same region selected in the download settings you'll be able to see the same servers :)

Region Locks or Geo Locks are Forbidden in Europe since 2018 or so.
Valve and some Publishers had to pay a fine already because of that so i would not recomment for any Developer/Publisher to implement any Region Locks.

The problem isn't that we can't see the same servers despite being in different regions. As stated in my post yesterday, my partner could only see a small number of servers and I could see those and more.
Today we are sat looking at the server list together. Sometimes when it refreshes for him he can see all the same 18 or 19 that I can see, sometimes he can only see 2 or 3, so the issue seems to be that every time there is a refresh, especially if it is a manual refresh, it causes the chance that servers disappear from the list for him. This may rectify on the next refresh, but also sometimes seems to remain for a long time.

It may be two separate problems, but this is definitely a presenting issue.

Could be an Router issue. Best you can do to prevent it is to activate Portforward in your Router for your Computer. So the Router will open the port which is needed and closes it when not needed. This is better than to open every port.

So in essence you have to lie to Steam to play in different regions. Yea, that's some rocket surgery going on there..

Like I said in my first post....use a VPN...problem instantly solved...

I see a few servers without and my friend see's different servers, I switch to her location UK/Arizona USA, we see the same servers. It's definitely region-related, just use a VPN.

Not everyone can use a VPN. There are people that have no idea how to use a VPN.

The fix is for the developers to remove the BS hidden region assignment for servers and provide a menu to select them.

i think that would eb a good idee
i have seen games where you can choose server locations thru a menu

but evenb then there should also be a free region setting in gamnes
i have played games that my friend had a american version of and i had a european version and we could see each other fine without choosing region

so i think the problem is steam side

doesent farming simulator has a button to choose region ? i remeber something like that, it worked perfect have been playing wth difrent player regions in 1 game

doesn't steam have a few lines in the rules about lying about regions, so people don't buy games cheaper in other regions ?
