These icons let you know that you have enough money or/and materials to buy a blueprint/craft an upgrade.
This mechanics isn't in the game at the moment, but we might add it again one day. No promises though.
I hope you will add more features to the game. As far as I can tell, at the moment all that is different from demo is number of ships and rope.
Have to add that rope is useless with out climbing mechanics.

the rope is more like a grapple. It has been very handy getting higher on the ship without having to take stairs.
We're on our way to fix this bug. For now, the temporary fix is to save the game, return to menu and load the save.

We'll think about it. As RorschachBC007 said, we've thought about the rope as a tool to get to higher places without having to climb all the way up. Perhaps we've missed an opportunity. ಥ_ಥ
