1.0.3 Patch Notes & Info from RedLynx
Hello Riders,

We've been hard at work on some of the issues that players of Trials Evolution Gold Edition have been experiencing and we will have a game patch, and server update, out as soon as possible to address the following:

Fixes in update 1.0.3:
- Fixed multiple crash issues in multiplayer.
- Made a number of general performance optimizations and fixes throughout the game to increase performance for all players, as well as make the Video settings far more useful.
- Added support for lower resolution particles to increase performance in levels with many particle effects, especially on lower and mid-level hardware.
- Moved higher resolution particles to Advanced effects.
- Removed water reflections from Advanced effects.
- Made it possible to unlock Lab Rat squirrel with keyboard.
- Added trigger icons to map voting screen when using a game pad in multiplayer.
- Fixed issue with shadows flickering occasionally.
- Fixed occasional text and label positioning issues in editor.
- Fixed Object selector in the editor not opening by pressing space bar if an object was selected.
- Fixed Scorpion’s French localization.

Fixes in server side update:
- Fixed an issue with the Test Your Might tournament not recording times to the leader board.
- Fixed a problem with wrong tracks opening after Advanced Search in Track Central
- Added feeds for Highest Rated in 48 hours to Trials & Skill games to Track Central.

Performance Tips:
In case you are still experiencing performance problems with the game after installing the latest patch try following these steps:

- Update your graphics drivers. Please download the latest drivers directly from the AMD or Nvidia website. Do not download graphics drivers from your computer manufacturer's site (Dell/HP/ASUS/Acer/etc.) because those drivers tend to be pretty old.
- If you are having texture glitches on AMD cards, download the latest drivers. Old drivers have confirmed texturing problems.
- If you are experiencing performance issues with Crossfire/SLI or other multi-GPU setup, you need to switch to single-GPU mode from graphics card drivers.
- If you are running the game in windowed mode, it's critical to have Window Aero theme enabled. If you have Aero desktop theme disabled, the game will lag heavily in windowed mode. Right click on the desktop, choose “Personalize” and select an Aero theme from the list.
- Check the "Wait for vertical refresh" setting in your graphics control panel (left click on Windows desktop background and select AMD Radeon Catalyst Control Center or Nvidia Control Panel). This setting should be either "application controlled" or "on". If this setting is "off", you might experience lag when playing the game in full screen mode.
- Additionally, if you have any texturing problems (gliches/popping), please set the texture quality, anisotropic filtering and anti-aliasing settings to default (application controlled) in the graphics control panel.
- Enable "VSync" option in the game’s Video settings screen.
- Trials Evolution: Gold Edition is designed to run at constant 60 FPS and the engine will skip frames if it for some reason cannot achieve this. For this reason it is advisable to run the game only with monitor’s refresh rate set to 60Hz if Vsync is enabled, and to lower the video settings if it seems that the game isn’t running optimally.
- If performance isn’t optimal, try first disabling "Advanced Effects" in the game’s Video settings screen. This option combines a few particle optimizations that can be quite demanding from performance perspective.
- If you are still experiencing performance problems, try lowering other video settings or selecting a lower resolution. After the latest optimizations these changes should now have a notable effect.

... nor did it fix the advanced search (selecting a completely different track than the one you actually want to select from the search results)

and am I the only one with this problem or does the whole track central take a REALLY looooooong time to load/reload any track listing?

same over here.

I just found 1 player to play with in the multiplayer, I don't know if it was just luck or smth was fixed.
Uplay overlay still there at top right of screen, very anoyying cant move it even with shift F2, cant play with friends, all that time on patch and nothing, please tell me why i should continue to buy into your future games, why on earth you used ubisoft of beyond me.
Pratically this sums up everything for lower end pc users:
- Trials Evolution: Gold Edition is designed to run at constant 60 FPS and the engine will skip frames if it for some reason cannot achieve this.
Nope, still getting random, inexplicable stuttering whenever the game feels like it. It will run at a perfect 60fps one second, and crawl along at what feels like 20fps the next.

Well, I guess this is the main issue. I understand that this approach may work very well on a fixed platform like the 360 where you can optimize the game to always get those 60fps the engine needs, but you can't design a PC game like that. Having a minimum framerate requirement (one as high as 60fps at that), below which the engine freaks out and the game starts running terribly, just isn't a viable approach on a platform with such varying hardware configurations. If someone can only get 55fps in the game, it should run "gracefully" at that framerate, it shouldn't start stuttering horribly as soon as you dip below 60fps as is the case now. The game engine should have been rewritten to be able to function properly in the world of varying framerates, but that very clearly hasn't happened. The result, sadly, is a mess for all but the lucky few.

(That this game should be able to run at a perfect 60fps on even very modest gaming rigs, but doesn't, is another matter.)

Also, can you explain this (I've posted about it before, but didn't receive any feedback): When I get this random stuttering, I can usually fix it by just pausing the game for a few seconds. When I unpause, it will once again run perfectly. That just makes no real sense to me, and no other game behaves this way. Clearly my hardware doesn't really have any issues running the game smoothly, but the engine just decides not to every now and then.
patch 1.03 my a**.. still NAT problems.. my cat can program better than you guys.. i hope you fail bad, cause all you wanted is money and give us an unfinished game with bugs.. if i wanted to play offline i would have never spent 20 euros.. thanks a lot.. enjoy my money..

I have found a similar behavior. When I am in the editor, the test drives are most of the times slowed. I had the game on pause for like a half an hour, came back, and the test drive acted like normal again. Also had the problem after pausing/going out of uplay overlay that the game runs twice as fast for a few seconds.

I wasn't having major problems with the game (turned all video settings on low) and was hoping with the new patch I could set them higher again. But it seems there has not changed that much with the patch (even got frames tearing where I haven't had it before on low setting). Still having problems in TC, editor (slow test drives). My game almost never crashed, but since the patch it crashed like 5 times trying to load a track in TC search.

I don't care if there are still problems, but if you guys promise a patch fixing issues, it should fix them for 90% of the people (wich I don't think is the case)
Where i can get refund ?

REFUND. NOW.

I was patient. Waited for a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ month to get the game fixed. No more. I want a refund - or if that can't be done I want the money I gave to redlynx to be taken away. Steam can have my 20$ for all I care, I just don't want to pay for this any more. Goodbye.

wrong place to ask for that ;P

Hey Lance,

If you give me some info about your system I'll do my best to help you. Typically issues with textures are caused by one of two things:

1) Older drivers for your video device. Please update your device from the chipset manufacturers website.

2) Below minimum specification video card (example: Intel HD 3000/4000, or not enough dedicated video memory)

Wow- so my laptop's HD 4000 graphics are why I am having the crazy texture issues?
I did update everything... and I can play Battelfield3 multiplayer just fine... but not Trials Evolution. FWIW, it plays very smoothly (new i7/hd 4000). Did I miss in the game's minimum specs where the Intel HD 3000/4000 were called out as being inadequate? I realize this is just an Xbox port, so I can see not rewriting code to work with everything possible.

a "craptop / intel hd 4000" is made for web browsing and movie playback and solitare, NOT 3d GAMES ...... derp

Oh I know. I just bought it because I was tired of surfing pron on my phone while traveling. Then I thought I could add some games to play while traveling since the HD 4000 was similar to some of AMD's APU graphics that can play many games.
I am not angry that it does not work correctly, just mildly disappointed. I'll still be able to enjoy it on my desktop (FX-8350/HD 6950). Wow.. I bought too many games during the summer sale.
