so did quake 2 but that let you change the res.
PC gamers have suffered poor console ports for ages but little did we know poor phone ports were around the corner.

how to change resolution for mac users ?
kerning Nov 30, 2014 @ 10:01pm
I been pulling my hairs off with trying to adjust the resolution to get rid of the black sidebars and is not having any success.

I use 2011 Mac OS X 10.9.5, 2.93 GHz processor, 8 GB of memory.

My screen size is 27 inches with native resolution of 2560 x 1440. I tried different sizes between 1280 x 900 to native and is having no luck. Is there any other sizes I can use that may works better with my size?
1366x768?
1280x720?

Nope, didn't works. I think something is somehow keep forcing the game to keep appearing in 4:3 format instead of 16:9 or 16:10 that I want.

Imagine my shock when I played it for the first time today and see a tiny box in the middle of my screen, and *not* finding any resolution options anywhere

I'd recommend not going above ~720p, as various UI elements fail to scale at higher resolutions.

By the way, here's something quick to copy/paste into Win+R for editing:

notepad "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\World of Goo\properties\config.txt"

I edited the config for for 1280x720 and it appears to be working well on my 1366x768 laptop. I've not tried 1366X768 to see how well it would work.

1920x1080 seems to be working well for me as well.

Mine didn't the first time I ran it but after exiting and running the game again it corrected itself. config.txt should look like this if you're going for 1920x1080:

<!-- IMPORTANT WARNING: If you edit this file, your computer will probably explode. Your friend, the High Resolution Sign Painter --> <config> <param name="language" value="en"/> <param name="screen_width" value="1920"/> <param name="screen_height" value="1080"/> <param name="refreshrate" value="60" /> <param name="ui_inset" value="10"/> </config>

Apparently, they're going to update the game resolution making it 16:9 (unfortunately at Epic first), but this article makes it sound like it'll eventually happen on Steam (at least it better) https://www.pcgamer.com/world-of-goo-is-getting-updated-and-going-free-on-the-epic-game-store/#comment-jump I'm going to wait to play it until it happens. I didn't even realize it was an issue since I only ever played it on Wii.
