WHY IS THERE NOT A WORLD OF GOO 2 STORE PAGE?
I need a store page for World of Goo 2 so I can start a discussion there with nothing but the text SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY.

It's not "software related" it's purely monopolistic greed.
EGS has made it clear that they want to put Steam out of business, one of the ways they are "attempting" to do that was by getting billions of dolllars of investor money to bribe game companies to not sell on Steam.

The games like this one that EGS pays for aren't even exclusive to EGS, they are just not on Steam because EGS paid the publisher to not sell here.

EGS has spent billions of dollars to do this to many games in the last few years and will continue wasting billions of dollars doing it for the next decade, intentionally losing money trying to buy marketshare to hurt Steam/Valve.

In the mean time game companies have learned to abuse it, they put out incomplete or early access games on EGS, get paid a huge bribe for a couple years of not selling it on steam and then double dip after the contract ends by putting out complete or updated versions on Steam and selling it to the larger audience.

The only people losing out are the customers dumb enough to buy it in both places. The smart customers just wait for a steam release or don't but it at all.
I would have been fine to wait for them to polish their game whatever they like to. Not ever since Metro Exodus.

Are we forgetting in fact some former exclusives games were on Steam already? Some games' popularity were already dried out before releasing contents or DLC or mod supports. I think there was an example of Evil Dead because devs stop updating their game. There are few things that I knew games were either stopped or canned out.

You're acting like every studio is the same and you're also forgetting that the ones pulled from steam were in the early days of EGS offering bribes, it was a new thing and both the publishers and the platforms were testing what they could get away with.

Steam has changed its rules to some degree in response and publishers have become slightly more cautious with what they do. In the end, the only obvious decisions they are going to make is whatever makes them the most profit in their opinion. And much of that comes down to how big the bribe is which is entirely on EGS's opinion of how much it's worth to hurt steam and for how long to hold the game back.

It's an ever changing set of decisions, different with every company, but they'll screw over EGS just as quickly as they will players, whichever is more profitable in the moment that decision is made.

The devs put this on their official page

"Don't see your favorite platform listed? Don't worry. Throw your other platforms in the trash, and get it from one of the above!"

Yes, i'll ignore it and throw up eshit store where it belongs, the trash can. I won't buy nothing from this dev again.

I am not a unit of cattle to be bought and sold. EGS' bags of Chinese money can eat a fat one

Based, but also sad. I love how they escaped EA's ship due to corporate greed, started their own studio as 2D Boy, released world of goo, a bunch of other games, then Tomorrow Corporation happened, more talk about corporate greed and exploitation, only to greedily take Epics money, and tell customers to throw the platform they've been using longer than anything into the trash, just cause their new overlords tell em to.

Hey there, it's developer Kyle here, thanks for supporting WoG all these years!

Hope I can bring some context that might be missing. World of Goo 2 would not exist if Epic had not helped us fund the game. We were able to hire artists and engineers for multiple years to help us build the biggest game we've ever made. We're grateful for this! You've likely seen similar arrangements with other games, and I imagine ours is comparable.

If you don't use Epic, that's ok. You can also get the game directly from us at https://worldofgoo2.com -- DRM-free, for Win / Mac / Linux. And if you have a Nintendo Switch, you can get it on the eShop.

let's just be thankful WoG1 hasn't gotten the rocket league/fall guys treatment yet.
(i will explain what that is if you want to know)

At least with WOG1 it wouldn't really matter much. It's a single player game that can be played offline and the game isn't taken away from owners even if it's no longer sold here.

With PVP games it hurts different, it slowly kills the player base.

Always glad to see a game get alpha/beta tested on Epic before its real release here. Means less bugs and a cheaper price because the game will be out for a year or so at that point so as an incentive for the beta testers to double dip it will more than likely have a sale when it releases here. Also any DLC will also probably release over the time epic has it and so we'll get a more complete version. I'd say this is a win for us.

it would kill off people looking to buy the game though who don't have any consoles considering how their next best option is either an old mobile port or a non-launcher version.

the confusing thing is that epic would likely result in worse sales by alienating steam users and people who dislike epic's exclusivity practices. a 12% bonus means nothing if you get few sales when most people only use epic games for fortnite and free games.
