Glitch at route canal part 1

Hi there, I just installed HL2 and started playing and got to the route canal level (part 1) and I cannot make any progress because a train (slim/slender looking) is suppposed to move out of the way for me to be able to get to the other side. Is there any way to fix this or do I have to start again?

I have this same glitch. It's at the part where the razor train is supposed to move forward and kill the three combine guards on the track. The trains bell sounds but the train does not move forward. There is no way to progress past this point because if you try and jump across the tracks you automatically die with no visible reason why. I tried starting from an earlier save point and the bug continues to happen even after game restarts. This is a game breaking bug as you can no longer progress.

Yeah! I don't know how, but I managed to get past the train by hugging the wall. Then I proceeded to go over to the other side and did the same thing, stuck to the wall as close as I could and then got over to the place I was supposed to go. Only then did the train move out of the way.

same thing here , i haven't find a way to the other side, i get killed all the time

That's not the one where you have to use the turbo boost to beat the train is it?

Well, I got past it as well. The part where you jump in front of the train actually doesn't kill you immediately if you have 100 health and at least 15% suit power. I got past by standing on the railing and jumping to the far wall opposite. Sprint past the train and you will get badly hurt but you wont die. Then as Burnseven says as you walk on the right side of the train(from the front) the train will suddenly start moving.

Really wish I had not spent 45 minutes trying to figure this out! Really ruins the start of the game.

No. It's before that.

I had this same glitch. I don't know how many times I died but I ended up getting past it without taking damage. I sprint jumped across the front of the train, all the way to the wall. Then I crouched down, hugging the wall as close as I could and slowly made my way down the other side. Eventually, the train all of a sudden, instantly, moved at full speed down the tracks. Scared the crap out of me.

Thanks guys. I had this problem, too. I went to the right side of the little yellow rail, held SHIFT + FORWARD + JUMP and jumped to the other side. I immediately crouched and slowly walked my way through. Thanks again. I thought I wouldn't be able to play this game again lol.

I had the same problem. Read these posts, went back to try the jump, and crouch. But I passed it by waiting by the wall when the soldier rolls the barrell down the stairs. The train just appeared in front of me.
