I can't run

haven't played half life 2 in a long time, wanted tor un through it and the two episodes. for some reason, i cannot run. is this related to steam needing to convert the files to this new format, or something else entirely? appreciate any help. Thanks.

When you say you can't run,do you mean you can't sprint/move ingame? or that the game doesn't start up.If the latter,does it say anything?

can't sprint or run in game, movement is just a slow crawl . :(

nah even with the suit it wouldn't work. i can run in other games though, it's just odd. can't figure it out.

I am having the same issue. No sprint/running. I have rebound to another key, and it still doesn't work. I also seem to fall slowly, jumping, falling off ledges, etc, almost as if the in game gravity has been turned down.

I just seem to not sprint. Everything else is fine, except I'm having a lighting glitch where eevrything seems to give off its own light. Anyone else?

ive got the slow falling and running, and when i press shift to spring, it don't work either
if any one knows how to fix this id really apprichiate it as ive been dying to play this game for a while

run the game in DX 8.0

Updates broke the game recently. No cinematic mod, faulty-nonexistent DX 9.0 and later functionality

Same issue. No matter what key I assign it to I can't run. So i just die. Not very fun since i just started the game over after not playing it for a couple years.

When I open this, it just brings me to the different topics under the search "Can't run."

Really want to enjoy this game :(

Running is overrated anyways.

just go to Options -> Keyboard -> Advanced and check the Enable Developer Console box. After that, use the ~ key to open the console and type
sv_alternateticks 0
