My iMac 27" late i7 680mx 16gb ram fusion 3tb
Anyone know how to fix the problem.
Valve maintains two dififerent versions of the Source engine, one optimized for singleplayer and one made for multiplayer.
If those titles you mentioned are games like TF2, CS:S and similar multiplayer releases then it would seem that your operating system is in some way or another lacking in compatibility or optimization(maybe AI and map generation?) with the singleplayer branch of Source. Win8 has had problems with games like HL2, Mount & Blade, Endless Space and many other titles, but not every user has problems with the same games - so maybe your Mac is in the same boat.
HL2 is getting old anyway, and maybe Valve just hasn't made the improvements and changes to keep it running efficiently on this generation's OS releases yet. If the episodes work fine for you then that shines a little more light on my aforementioned theory since the episodes run on a later version of Source, same as Alien Swarm I believe.
Pardon if this post is unclear in some points, I got pre-occupied and my concentration wasn't absolute.
Im in the same boat buddy. Im a late 2013 iMac owner with 2 G VRAM, 8GB RAM, 1 TB Fusion. Counterstrike Source works flawlessly, but HL2 gets the lags in "in-game events" i hope something changes that!
