Fixed! HL2 on Linux - Freeman is walking in slow motion. Rest of game runs normally. Please help.

Sorry - already put this on Steam General Discussions before I found HL2 discussions. hopt to get a response here :-}

Played HL2 on Linux a couple of days ago. Fab game, no slow downs, graphics fab even at 1080p. Every thing I could want and I got pretty far.

Today.
1) Previous saves dont load. I see this in the discussions but for me it is not a big issue I will just play again. HL2 is like that.

2) Player is walking VERY SLOWLY.

Other NPCs are normal speed including cars, dropships, etc. But Gordon Freeman is walking sooooooo slow.

Looked on forums. Tried sv_maxspeed, not defined. host_timeframe made every thins go like mad. I cannot find a solution that just makes freeman walk faster.

This is sooooo frustrating. It is a small change that makes the game almost unplayable!

I know it is a Beta, and I know it is going to change but this must have been seen in testing.

Does any one know how, or when this can be fixed!

Please help. I have waited so long for this to happen to Linux.

same over here. the framerate is high, game progresses at normal pace, only player movement seems to be extremely slow. when you jump or fall it feels like you're on the moon. escaping the cp raid on the appartment building is impossible due to this. happens in ep1 and ep2 as well. passing the force bridge near the beginning of ep1 is impossible, as sprint only speeds you up to about what should be normal run speed. reinstalling the game does no good, i even tried reinstalling steam with no success.

update: for some bizarre reason, both hl2 deathmatch and lost coast work okay, only hl2, ep1 and ep2 seem to be affected. i also noticed that changing walk speed with console commands helps for about 1 second before it reverts to slow motion again. is there any way to fix this?

I can't believe I beat HL2 w/ 100% achievements as SLOW Gordon.
At least I read this before starting ep 1 and 2.
