Performance issues after anniversary update

Well, Im decided to play in HL2 again after update, and figured out some troubles.
I have strong FPS drops, when I hit scanners or manhacks.
Game on maximum settings and I there were no problems with game before update.

Specs:
i5-9400f, GTX 1650 Super, 24 GB DDR4, Game installed on SSD.

I have the same issues. EP1 on the highest settings, at the beginning of the game, it drops from 250+ to 60 fps with noticable mouse lag and stuttering. Going to lower settings helps, but still not a perfect performance.

Same. I had to set antialias from x8 to off and stutter just gone

same here, running a 6700xt at 1080p. running the default 4x MSAA would cause frame drops easily in some scenarios which is baffling considering this games vintage and the strength of the card. turning it off helps massively. something isn't right for sure.

Same issue here no matter the graphic settings, the problem lies with vertical sync- if you disable it then the fps goes up, for me around 300 and no lag at all.. but it triples the watts consumption. Definitely a bug.

edit:
till patch try this:
disable v-sync then enable console at keyboard advanced
press ` (default key) type fps_max.

Note1: Needs every time you launch the game.
Note2: Not sure if it voids achievements since I've already 100% the game, can't test it.

Hello again, sorry if it's been a long time. I have found a temporary solution. Since the problem is due to the update, you can return to the previous performance by playing the beta (steam legacy). You can find the other episodes in the library by choosing the "tools" option.
