Is HL2 Deathmatch part of HL2 now?

Since the update i see patch notes for HL2 DM and HL2 DM has been removed from the Steam store.
I see no option for multiplayer on the HL2 main menu, is DM going to be merged with HL2 at some point like the episodes were?

Not yet, it looks like they planned to include it but ran out of time before the anniversary.
There is a HL2 MP folder in HL2 files and some space left out on the new main menu.

I do own HL2 DM so i can play it but it would be nice to be able to launch everything from one place.
Also DM achievements would be nice.

Deathmatch was also delisted from the store just like the episodes were. They will probably include it in the base game in near future

I hope they include it into the main launcher. It would probably get more people to notice HL2DM in the first place. It would make it more like HL1 as well.

Someone already managed to figure out how to add "Multiplayer" to the main menu, and let you launch singleplayer maps in a server.

I tried to do that by copying the original DM files and replacing the gamemenu.res but nothing, it only shows me the campaigns and not the DM maps

copy your local hl2mp content to "hl2/hl2mp", copy dlls in "hl2/hl2mp/bin/" to "hl2/hl2_complete/bin", launch the game and type "launchmod hl2mp" into console. this allows you to start hl2 deathmatch from the same client. HL2MP UI elements didn't load though in my test, like MOTD.

if you don't copy the dlls, the "launchmod" command will just be restricted to "hl2", "episodic", "ep2" and "lostcoast" and doesn't load bin files specific to the gametype.

edit: also the recent updates provided in hl2 deathmatch details are only available this way, grenade yo-yo and smg1, ar2 view bobbing gets fixed but not in current steam hl2dm.
