Half-Life 2 -> Episode 1 -> Episode 2. In that order you should play the games.
You can also play Half Life 2 Lost Coast from the extras, it's basically a 5 minute demo.
With the games and their release dates being clearly listed on the store, this wasn't a problem, but now this could legit be very confusing :D
Like, if you don't know any better, you could play HL2, and then go straight to Ep2, thinking HL2 is Ep1, with the main menu items serving as switches between Ep1 and 2 :D
I'm sure people mistaking Ep1 for the first of the HL2 games isn't an entirely new problem, but still, they could've made this clearer here :D
Black Mesa is good, but play hl1 first, even the devs recommend doing that.
