Vsync doesn't work in borderless mode
Is there a way to fix this? I don't need 280 FPS and the GPU working at 100% for no reason. (It's RTX3070).
And in fulllscreen mode it's capped at 50 fps for some reason instead of 60.

I can confirm, please fix, GabeN!

Same here. Using Fullscreen mode honours vsync (but runs on the wrong monitor), while borderless lets me get the game on the correct screen, but massively overtaxes my system.

Can also confirm. Menu text is changing size when switching from fullscreen to boderless. Looks like a miner bug.

Windows 7 Ultimate.

Same problem with AMD. Windows 11.

And the vertical sync in full screen doesn't work properly, it has little stutters from time to time. Enabling it from the control panel doesn't fix it.

Same with L4D2, just run it in Fullscreen Mode.

Awesome, thank you! I had no idea this option exists, but it was easy to find. And it will address a similar problem I've had with some other old games when running in borderless mode!

Now my RTX3070 is running at 24-26 W @ 210 MHz, LOL. Which is just 7 watts over fully idle, and about equal to video playback load (it's at 1080p with 4xMSAA and everything else maxed).

why u have a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ rtx 3080 and wnats to use v-sync? lol use a frame limiter. u can do in the game console : fps_max 60 or 120 the number u want. i doubt u dont have a freesync monitor. so tearing will not be a problem.
LostSektor Nov 16, 2024 @ 5:06am
also v-sync gives u a lot of input lag in source games. is terrible.
I do not, in fact, have a freesync monitor. I don't feel any negative impact from vsync either, but if you do - cool, you have very fast reactions and a quick brain.

well is very rare see someone having a high end gpu and not a monitor that can extract this power. so yeah u will need to use v-sync. personally i always felt a lot of input lag using v-sync with hl2 in specific. maybe the updated made it a little better. and no i dont have fast reactions. im already 30 and my eyes are bad. a alternative for u if u want to test is msi afterburner with riva tuner u can limit the fps and have perfect frame times and with scanline sync function u can "hide" the tearing. i used to do this before having freesync monitor.

Can confirm it doesn't work on my PC too. I'm using Intel GPU, so I can cap the framerate via Source console commands or RTSS, though it would be nice to see it being fixed.

Never noticed any input lag with V-Sync.

Perhaps only 12 year old pro gamers notice it.
