Well... My game is kind of ♥♥♥♥♥♥ now.
I tried out the 20th Anniversary update, and now, triggers are visible and sometimes solid now in d1_trainstation_02, transitions don't work, and sometimes triggers just don't work entirely. I even tried switching back to the Pre-20th Anniversary build, but somehow the update has broken that build as well. What????? For the love of god, If somebody knows how to fix this, PLEASE let me know.

I noticed those things too in my playthrough of the update. I also get engine error crashes that crash me to desktop with some of the background maps that try to load when starting the game. And another issue is on d1_trainstation_03, during the apartment raid, I reach the level transition to d1_trainstation_04, and I get another desktop crashing error: engine error portalnum > numareaportals. I might try other maps in the campaign to see if it occurs. I don't know about Episode 1 or Episode 2, as I haven't tried to load into those campaigns, given how this update is focused on the standalone HL2 campaign.

I experimented the legacy pre-anniversary build just to make sure these didn't happen. I was able to play through the legacy version just fine. So I thought I was the only one with these issues.

I hope I was able to help you give a little insight on this. I apologize if I wasn't much of a help.

Interesting. I also got the portalnum > numareaportals crash. I also saw one other person with this problem, but it was never resolved. This doesn’t seem to be happening with a majority of people.

I used to mess around with modding the game in the Custom folder before the update, and so I assumed that may have been it, but It never worked even with my mods out of the custom folder, and it seems to be a problem with the maps, since, after looking online for a bit, I found that portalnum > numareaportals regards map errors, and is primarily seen in hammer.

Have you messed around with the files at all before the update? Maybe with adding maps in or putting mods in your Custom folder? I want to see if it’s only happening to people that have messed with the internal stuff.

I do have stuff in the custom folder, a mod from gamebanana that has a 2-handed pistol viewmodel, the 2-handed AR2 viewmodel from Half-Life 2: Update (the standalone Steamapp, not to be confused with the anniversary), and the classic zombie's dialogue in reverse. I moved the custom folder with its contents on the desktop to test this out. No dice. So removing my vpks did nothing.

Weird. I’ll have to dive into this another time, I guess. I’ve posted about this problem in a few other places, so, If I figure something out, I’ll post back here.

By any chance do you have installed Obsidian conflict mod?

A friend found out on their discord that you need to delete all files with the .lmp extension from the subfolder maps in the ep2, episodic, hl1, hl2 and lostcoast folders. Then verifiy the game files and you're done. Supposedly the OC mountfix messed up the maps and the update doesn't install properly.

I DID have Obsidian Conflict installed a bit ago, but I think I uninstalled it recently. Regardless, I found a fix. https://steamcommunity.com/app/220/discussions/0/6955341348098572004/

If anybody else is still having bugs after using those fixes, comment on this discussion.

So LMP files don't work anymore? I had some mods installed that adjusted some positions in maps but they don't work anymore....

I'll bump you up because I'm having all these issues and it seems nothing is being done to fix them.

I recently had the chance to return to this problem and I remember having installed Obsidian Conflict in the past. This actually fixed the problem for me and now the game is playable. Thank you for posting this.

Disclaimer: I can't vouch that it will solve the issue for other users, I can only speak for myself.
