Can't Uninstall due to "Missing Shared Content"
both HL2 and the episodes which now reside inside Tools in the library. am on linux, if anyone knows a solution to this that isn't just deleting the folders at the moment, it'd be appreciated

So i asked this question in the steam deck forums, and this seemed to work.
I also deleted the game folder then reinstalled a few times just to be sure

I'm having the same issue, can't figure out what to do, can't uninstall any of the games including base hl2

Me too. I had Half Life 2 and Lost Coast installed before the update and now I can't uninstall either. Not even deleting the game folder from my Steam Deck desktop mode worked.

Got the same going on with the Steam Deck, won't let me uninstall anything related to HL2. Base game, EPs, Lost Coast, shows that pop up of Missing Shared Content. Won't even let me do it from storage management.

Anyone figure it out?
I tried reverting to anothet branch and that doesn't work

sadly haven't figured it out yet. I went to steam support but they told me to create a github account and have 64 bit ubuntu installed which hasn't been helpful for someone on Mint, which is based on Ubuntu

Well, I got this discussion subbed to so if anyone figures it out, post it here

This issue can also appear on linux systems when you attempt to uninstall a proton that youve forced a game to use, so knowing that my best guess is valve borked the dependancies.

You cant uninstall HL 2 because episode one needs it, and you cant uninstall episode one because HL2 needs it. Repeat for all HL 2 games.

It was a trap to make us play this game forever. ;-)
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

this solution worked for me, but idk how it might go for other ppl with different setups and scenarios

sadly hasn't worked for me, the files had similar numbers but deleting them did nothing. still not sure how to uninstall them through steam. would've appreciated this update even more if it didn't come with this annoying bug.

This worked for me too on the Steam Deck. Had to do this, then delete the game folder, then restart the deck.

Settings --> Downloads --> Clear Cache

I cleared out the Download's cache and redownloaded EP1 and EP2 and now they can start from the Half-Life 2 launcher and from Tools. Let me know if this helped you. :)

Restart, huh? I knew I was missing something... ;-)

When I tried that with Steam running, it somehow recreated/redownladed these files. I had to quit steam, delete files+directory and start steam again.
