Is there any way to rotate the object your holding with the gravity gun?

Or am I supposed to just rub the object against the wall and repeatedly grab/let go/grab the object until its in the proper rotation? I love the Gravity Gun But I've always had this issue. Really awkward if you ask me and borders on useless as far as puzzles. I've tried to get into this game off and on since it was released and this has always bugged me. So is there an actual way to rotate the object? Or is there maybe an easier/more effective way than the awkward method above? thanks.

Yeah, grab the object and bring it out and place it in the right direction, then grab it from the desired direction and place it where you want.
