What happened to HEV Mark IV?
When Gordon was put into stasis at the end of Half-Life, G-Man told him that he can keep the suit because "I think you've earned it", and is pretty obvious that Gordon goes into stasis wearing the suit since some HUD elements are still visible. However, when he is brought out of stasis at the beginning of Half-Life 2, he doesn't have the suit anymore. The old HUD is not there and Kleiner would probably mention something about it when he'd give Gordon the Mark V.
I'm sure this is a "mistake" on Valve's part, who simply forgot to take this detail into account. But what do you make of it? Because now it has to be explained by the players, integrated into the story. Where do you think the Mark IV went?

Probably not a mistake, but a retcon.

Retcon?

Basically that Valve changed the type of suit, or it's simply lost in the space time continium.

Retcon it's too simple of an "excuse", was it applied somewhere else on the series?
Anyway, omce I realised the loss of the suit I integrated it into a side story I keep imagining.

The suit was removed and Gordon was put in a Civilian Jumpsuit to avoid Combine suspicion at the station
I mean the CP would know something is wrong if they see a man in a HEV suit walking around in a train station in a city where only the jumpsuits are allowed to be worn + while he's wielding a crowbar soaked in human and creatures from Zen Blood

That's always been my explenation since it's pretty logical right?

Makes alot of sense, I figure it's my new fall-back reason to explain this.

What i Want to Know is how Barney got Gordan's CrowBar, Since in blue shift we never see him get it...
ineseri Jan 17, 2014 @ 5:19pm
It's not the same crowbar, it's just a joke from Barneys side I think.

There are alot of crowbars in the game, you can see them every now and then. Can't pick them up, though, they're just props, but it shows how Barney gets them.

No you saw Gordon getting dragged away by those female assasins
And in the beginning sequence you're waiting for the door to open you see him come by in the train (same sounds when playing the original HL)
It might have been Barney at the end of the line but i'm not sure about that

Didn't Kleiner said they made some upgrades to the old suit?

Mark IV = upgraded = Mark V

What I don't know is how could they get the suit.

I think G-Man indirectly gave HEV4 to Kleiner:gman:

Whenever you see something like that, a wizard/g-man did it
