The Seven Hour War

Alright, when you first get to Eli, theres a billboard, with news ariticles about the Combine Invasion, and how they took out all of humanity's military in seven hours. There are beliefs about how the Combine teleported the Citadels down and sent in the ground troops. I only wish Valve told us more about this Seven Hour War. Hopefully we get a movie about it one day. I mean, it's a war that takes seven hours. That can easily be made a 2 and a half or 3 hour movie.

Several buildings liek the Citadel were built according to lore, the Citadel in C17 served as a central hub for Earth's.

well if u think about it the combine are a massive empire in space and humans have earth and the combines army is one humans are many like brits germany france ect the war lasted 7 hours beacuse it would be a "blitzcreg" they would teleport into the city befor the army could of reacted and as u can tell from playing the games the combine ships are alive so they could avoid any anti airfire pluse the troops are humans so it would of been i guess striders instead so you now bullets seem to suck a bit at the time it would be could to see some game or movie about it hope it helped.

Excpept for the Combine coming from another Dimention not space
You're speaking of bullets but remember you're still using old fashioned 9mms and Rocket Propelled Grenades
Even with the little time humans had to react they reacted and went for a full out war but the combine we're fast
Gunships and Dropships would just be spammed trough the portal making it impossible to win
Breen was the smart one and negatiated peace before they whiped out or enslaved humanity just like they did with the creatures from Zen

I'd see it as the Dutch against the Germans in WW2
A suprise attack and we manage to fight back for a few days then give up seeing they'd never stop
