Cinematic Mod 2013 Help :)
Ok, so I recently bought Half-Life 2 and Episodes 1&2 now trying for hours to install Fake Factory's mod but with the lack of proper guide to install it I'm a total loss, and posting for help on the site's forums is a pain since noone seems to visit it anymore and all my posts are pending Admin approval anyway which after doing some reading may take weeks or months at this rate. So....anyone who uses the latest version on here that can take a few moments to help would be greatly welcome.

You need to install and run each game at least once and then also install SDK, SDK base, SDK 2007, which are all under the Steam 'Tools' tab. After that, run the mod's .exe.

Yea, did all that except the files I downloaded from ( http://getsio.net/ext/cinematicmod.com/ ) only came as ten part RARs extracted into "Bigfile.pak" files and the installer wich fails everytime I try to install in the correct Common folder for Steam, so yea the install instructions are pretty vague with so many links of versions...lol My prob is I have no clue what to do with these files since all ten folders contain the same 1.95GB file, and I can't use 7Zip to extract them or "join" them as others have mentioned. I have no probs installing mods for Skyrim,Saints Row games, or even State of Decay...but this I'm clueless as to how to do it properly with the files given through the site's download links, but at least thank you for the reply :)

No problem. I hope you get it working, as it's almost like playing an entirely new game. You could try to use a trial version of WinRar instead of 7Zip to extract just the "part01 file." It will automatically join and extract the other nine files. You shouldn't have 10 separate unzipped files, just one massive file folder which contains the install .exe for Cinematic mod and all the stuff it needs.

"part01.rar" file? that's weird, I must've downloaded the wrong files because all I got was 10 folders each with just the "bigfile.pak" files the first has the installer and the tenth has Direct X and VisualC_Runtimes files. Do you by chance remember exactly what link you used to download? I even tried the torrent link but again it seeded just the "Bigfile.pak" files. Seems like the uploaded files for the lastest version may have been messed up, just my luck lol. It may be quite some time to get any assistance from the site's admins...because nothing on their site even mentions the issues I'm having or the files I got from their links. Thanks again, and Happy New Year!

Out of curiosity what version of Cinematic Mod? The reseaon I ask is I am still using the 2013 Alpha version from back when they first scrapped it together after steam went and changed the storage container file systems and blew everyones mods to hell. Anyway When I downloaded it, there were 19 files weighing in at 512 MB's each and over 9GB's when re assembled not 10.

Be sure you downloaded the correct torrent, and recieve all of the files. Also as mentioned before you must run each episode once AND create an save game from each episode. The config file that gets wriiten/created when saving is used for the installation.

Well, I'm re-downloading the CM 2013 Alpha 1 version now but not as a torrent, it's exactly 19 files of that size as you mentioned and yes I made saves on HL2 and Ep1 & Ep2. So once I get all part files in a folder WinRAR or 7zip can combine them all into one folder with the installer? Oh and btw, the other files I tried before never had the Character Pimper to config the video settings and character models...is that suppose to come with these 19 files? Sorry I usually don't have much trouble installing mods but this one is awkward but seems worth the trouble :) I'll post back once I finish getting all 19 part files.

Thanks guys for the replies but got it installed and working fine with no issues, was a simple matter of DL the wrong files lol The screen shots don't do it justice, the difference is huge and now I can finally enjoy Half-Life 2 in all it's HD glory lol. Thanks again for the help and Happy New Year :)

I downloaded these 10 rar files which unpacked into the installer. Isn't this the latest version?

Btw, is it common to have slower loading screens using the mod?
Kainos Jan 3, 2015 @ 6:58am
yea that's the latest version and also your load times & performance vary depending on your settings chosen in the Configurator, not sure though but that's my guess.

which one is the "correct" common folder?
I have one on my system SSD (just the Steam install, no games there), and one on a harddrive which I am using for games

Good question. Unfortunately I could not answer since my steam games are on the same drive as the steam install for myself. You could try entering that question in the search box for the global discussions regarding steam installs. I seem to recall a discussion along those lines a couple years back, though it was for a different game.
