Highway 17 Bridge Black Screen

I've seen topics on this before, but nobody seems to have an answer. On Highway 17, whenever I try to open the door to access the bridge, the game fades to a black screen after it's done loading (transition from d2_coast_07 to d2_coast_08) and then starts over from my previous save.

I've already verified my game cache several times and I've even tried it on different operating systems (Linux and Windows 7). I've tried setting "-dxlevel 80" as someone suggested in another thread, but that also didn't do anything (except make the game look like crap).

My setup is as follows:
Intel Core i7-3770 CPU
8GB RAM
Nvidia GeForce GTX 680 GPU
Arch Linux / Windows 7 OS (same problem on both)

Also, I should mention that manually spawning myself to the other map ("map d2_coast_08" in the console) puts me on the other side of the bridge with no weapons, so that's not a viable "solution".

In case anyone finds this in the future, I was able to solve the problem by re-loading from an earlier save at the beginning of the d2_coast_07 map.



I read somewhere that the bug can arise if you drive the buggy onto the bridge before opening the gate and that you should reload from an earlier save. I definitely did not drive the buggy onto the bridge in my game, but reloading from an earlier save fixed the problem anyway.

No. I had this same problem. Look on this forum for the thread "There is a bug on highway 17," it's a few posts down from yours. It gives a solution that worked for me. This solution puts you back a ways in that same level, not all that far though. Good luck with it.
