Console commands to make the game harder?

Any there any console commands that work that make the game harder? A while ago I tried a few, but they didn't seem to do anything. The game is just way to easy, last time I played I made it harder by just not using health chargers, but it was still too easy and I am wanting a even harder challenge. Also I plan to play Half-Life 2: Update.

I could mod the game, but that would take time and is not really worth the effort. So are there any console commands that would make the game harder, like increased health of enemies, decreased health in packs and chargers, increased damage of enemy weapons etc..?

just find and edit the skill.cfg file to make the enemies stronger and so on, it worked for me. It allows you to pretty much do everything you say you want to do.

Seems to work. But what does setting the game to hard change? Is it only damage of the weapons, as when I change skill from 3 to 2, nothing changes in the sk commands. Also what is sk_npc_head meant to do, I set it to 0.5 and it took 7 head shots for a kill when the NPC had 1000 health and the weapon did 1000, but only 1 shot when set to 0.8. Basically I am trying to figure out what those commands do and if changing one will override other difficulty settings somewhere, I am thinking of doubling all NPC’s health, increasing their damage and decreasing ammo.
