Can't jump the bridge, after the crane
I haven't played through HL2 in a long time, decided to play it through again for the hell of it.

I'm on the coast road, after you have to use the crane to get the jeep up onto the docs, drive through the warehouse window and onto the highway.

I've tried to jump that gap 13 times today. I can't get across. I use the turbo, I've tried it at different times and made sure I'm at top speed, but I can't cross that damn gap.

I just manage to get the front half of the car onto the other side and then go tumbling back and to the ground. Is this a new bug or something? Or am I just doing something wrong?

This is incredibly frustrating.

Yeah, after six more attempts today, I just lowered the gravity to 450 and finally made it across. Frustrating as hell.

You're supposed to go around the gap... there's plenty of area for you to do so.

Clearly, we're not talking about the same bridge gap.

Pretty sure you arn't supposed to be able to make that jump, there should be a way around it.

Nope. There is no way around this sucker and every online walkthrough I can find says to gun the turbo and jump this gap.

I've just taken a leisurely drive down the coast highway to celebrate the 10 year milestone, and that's definitely the gap that needs to be jumped.
If you start far enough back, it can be done even without using turbo, just by pressing "forward" constantly. And the gunship should get a nice view of your undercarriage.
Strange that it wasn't working for you.

I always jump it. no problems here and no need for sv_cheats

is there a workaround for this? I'm having the same trouble right now... it's like there's an invisible wall...

i've tried every possible way and probably over 200 times... i think it may have something to do with my car. i got it stuck on a rock ledge and ditched it and only just created my car with a cheat so I dont think half life likes that..

I have this same problem, maybe with a different gap. It is the first one I ran into that is farther across than before. I cannot make it all the way across, even with going all the way back pressing forward and the turbo (shift) key. It is required to continue in the game. I watched several video walkthroughs and they ALL have to jump the gap. I have seen several people run into this issue. The car will apparently get across, but the back of the car doesn't quite make it all the way onto the pavement and tumbles backwards and off to the ground. I cannot figure out why I cannot get across. I also watched some people on video walkthroughs and they not only got across, it looked like they were going faster and/or jumped twice as far. This is very odd. Anyone out there know how I can get across? I have tried several times.

It looks like the bridge gap just after crashing through the glass wall near the crane. Half the time I jump it I bounce off the top right side of GS#2, the Tau canon flops all over the place.

Is it possible members with this problem have corrupted game files or maybe messed with the creator console in the past?

Is it possible anyone absentmindedly hit break in the process?

Ghidrah1 has a good point. Keep me updated on the result or solutions friends.

This is a few years old. But if anyone is still looking for help as I was, I found you can boost faster going backwards than forwards. I just reversed and boosted over the gap after failing to do it going forwards a few times.
