Half-life 2 "Failed to load the launcher DLL: Specified module could not be found" error

Hey guys,

Recently, my half-life 2 has been acting up. Everytime I try to start the game it simply gives me this error message. I've tried uninstalling, and reinstalling, but it doesn't seem to do anything. I should also mention that the game belongs on my sister's account, and I'm accessing it through the "shared accounts" method.

I have absolutely no idea what to do, since I rarely get these error, could someone please provide some detailed assistance?

i have the same problem, and i use my own account (it also does this with ep1,ep2,and lost coast)

Right click Half-Life 2 in your game library, the go to properties>local files>verify integrity of game cache, and you should be good to go.

i figured it out

To sum it up go to properties by pressing the rmb on the game hit local files and click Verify the game cache files this may take a few minutes. (worked for me)
