The striders are looking solely for me, camping me and they have really good aim with knockback. At this point I either keep doing the same for half an hour waiting for luck or load eariler save and execute the whole area when it's fresh. I can't git gud (that's the correct spelling btw u troglodite) since the ecnounter isn't balanced and frankly it isn't fun or challange either. Casuals don't play hl2 in 2014.
Normally I don't suggest going the easy mode route, it promotes false assumptions and tactics.
As horrible as it may sound going hard mode and being methodical in your combat evolution, you can break the path and mode of confrontation apart into separate moments instead of the enormity of the 13 walkers and 18 plus hunters.
Learn who comes out to play and from where then brain out the shortest route to the walker.
Use the car and logs to deal with the hunters, (reusable items to conserve launcher and PB rnds) only use PR PBs (plasma balls) on the hunters when assured of taking multiples.
If you clear the hunters remain inside the walkers 4:00 to 8:00, they'll ignore you until you send an MD to them.
Always stop at a supply house when moving to next walker, slide through shelves to grab whatever, (meds mostly, they get replaced each time you come back)
Ghidarh1 - I think you are talking about fight in episode 2, not hl2 mission.
Is it "Follow Freeman" Town Square or Rooftop? I Don't confront the walkers in the town square, I run past all of them, avoid all of them. I never considered Rooftop a battle let alone a difficult one, there's just too much ammo and hides I tend to get it done in 16 rnds
Follow Freeman
The Town Square event begins at 12:38 and ends at 13:33
It took 45 secs from entry to exit, and could have been maybe 10 secs faster if I hadn't been hindered by rebels. I believe the long jump and launcher make the run possible.
The roof top event begins at 17:24 and ends at 18:28 taking 1:04 secs to complete.
