Sound BlasterX G6 don't work sound in old games
I've noticed a very strange problem with the SoundBlasterX G6, which is that in many older games, the sound doesn't work. I wrote it off as a Windows issue, but hell no. I decided to plug the headphones back into the integrated sound card in the motherboard, and darn it, the sound is back. I don't know what the problem is, maybe I screwed up when I installed SoundBlaster drivers several times, including Sound Blaster Command and another similar one trying to figure out which driver I needed but an older program, but the fact remains that older games refuse to work with this sound card, which is very unfortunate since we paid money for it.

But I want to believe I'm wrong, so does anyone have any tips on how to get the sound in older games to work with this sound card?

Been years since I used a soundblaster sound card but I remember their driver support was never that good the drivers were often pretty buggy remember their was a guy who used to write his own custom drivers they worked way better than the official drivers. Cant remember his name though was 13 maybe 14 years ago last time I used them you could try googling custom soundblaster drivers who knows maybe he's still making them.
I was pretty sure Sound BlasterX G6 needed Creative app, but yes it uses command.

Anyway. You need to set your Sound Blaster device as your main/default peripheral for sound.
If not, it will not output sounds on games that won't let you select your device manually.

Recents games have this qol feature, but games like HL2 don't.

Also, while Creative's drivers are a bit dodgy, SB Command is one of the rare decent software they've made.
In its settings you should have two tabs :
Application and Device
You can update both in these tabs, and I suggest you to do that first and foremost.

Then look on your Windows OS sounds settings to check if your Sound Blaster is your default output device.
