ranking the chapters

just for fun, i decided to rank the chapters of half life 2 (worst to best)


14- black mesa east
13- a red letter day
12- entanglement
11- our benefactors
10- dark energy
9- point insertion
8- "we don't go to ravenholm"
7- highway 17
6- nova prospekt
5- sandtraps
4- route kanal
3- "follow freeman"
2- anticitizen one
1- water hazard

I know the 1st 2 are the learning chapters but Point insertion and Red Letter Day go beyond boring. The only value in Black mesa East is the GG

The rest chapters either have no combat (Black Mesa East) or very little of it. They’re not bad, I certainly enjoy entering the terminal plaza or the ride in Our Benefactors, I just find it hard to rank them. I have to mention the climactic battle of Red Letter Day, however. It’s actually pretty fun.

I used to really dislike the city combat chapters, but on the last replay I found myself enjoying Anticitizen One a lot, in spite of trying to keep my squad alive, or they constantly blocking me in narrow corridors.

the city chapters are honestly too overhated, they are the peak of the game for me, when i play them, both aniticitizen one and follow freeman, honestly they make all the chapters before meh, those two city chapters are half life 2 in all his power, those ARE half life 2 for me, everything is in there... but some people really hate them, glad you find anticitizen one fun, those city chapters are really special... really it's not just that i think they are the best, but they are the most half life thing ever... they are so great imo...

For me, the peak enjoyment of HL2 starts when I exit the Ravenholm mines and ends with Follow Freeman.

for me the peak of enjoyment, start at route kanal, end at ravenholm, and start again on the second half of highway 17, then it drops a lot on entaglement, and explode on anticitizen one to the end...
edit: now that i think of it entanglement is very good on some parts, but i usally rember it for the dreadful parts...
