Why do you think that game is going to be any good? Half-Life 2 already ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up the original enough with all of the stupid, pandering retcons and downgrading. Do you really think they actually have an endgame in mind? Every story they've written for this franchise has ended on a cliffhanger, they couldn't even bother to write a proper ending for Half-Life: Alyx because they know they don't have anything beyond using the G-Man as a monkey's paw self-insert. Half Life 3 coming out now would not be a good experience, if only because all of the old Valve developers have moved on or have left, and it'd probably simplify and mainstream the shooting/gameplay mechanics even more than Half-Life 2 did.
