Yeah folks if you haven't watched the Richter overtime video or been on Reddit the Corpse_01 model uses the face of a real burn victim taken from a medical forensic book. Rumor is the guy was associated with the mafia and they burned his face as some kind of punishment or cruel joke.

I'm not sure if you watched the video but one of the developers that worked on L4D2 stated that the gore used in that game used photos of housing insulation and potato skin.

irl gore as ref is not new but it often goes under the radar since it is pretty taboo. no wonder this video makes it kind of a novelty for a lot of gamers.

anyway, we already have fun killing people and emulating wars people suffered through irl. at this point what even is sacred in this world ?

Dead Space did not have real gore in the game, the devs used it as reference though. I wonder if Valve will change this texture

The thing is it's not just that it was used for reference, it's straight up the real photo, the only real difference is that the texture has it's eye removed.

Reminder the DOOM sprite being a hanging man is a literal myth and was confirmed to be a low res GI Joe figure.
