but mods like smod tactical wont work thats a shame. or are ther other ways?
There are some Mods without windows dlls. After a bit editing config files they are worth a try.
I plan to make other mods (without Windows bin's) Linux capable, than you can try them on your mac.

There is no need for an illegal copy to run the WIndows version of the game with Wine. Just install the Windows Steam client using Wine (disable dwrite.dll to fix the missing text bug), then use that to install and run HL2. I have only tested this on Linux, though. Source engine games run quite well, but multi-core rendering needs to be disabled.
