Can't select Grenades (and other weapons in the "diagonal Catorgories")- Xbox 360 game pad issues
I've been looking around for a fix for this issue I'm having with half life 2: I can't select wepons that are on what I call "Diagonal catorgories" when using the 360 controller - apparently the game now has support for the controller but its still annoying that I can't get the grenades of the rpg for some reaons, even when I press diagonally with the d-pad. I've looked around but everyone how had the problem has better luck than I do because it always ends with them saying "the problem has resolved it self" and that they did nothing special to fix it.

So please any help would be appriciated

And it's not working. So you could just go back to using a normal keyboard and a normal mouse. That is way more accurate anyway.

well I'm the kind of person who when there's an issue with something i'd like to fix it, have you got something against people not using keyboard + mouse?

Kinda. First person shooters just play better with Mouse and Keyboard, just like RTS(Or strategy in general), so why would anyone use a controler(Obviously that makes no sense since people still use consoles while PC is superior in every way)?

Try this:

1.) Reset your controls to default.
2.) Disable the 360 controller but keep it plugged in.
3.) Reset the game.
4.) Renable the controller.
5.) Then clear the buttons for the extra weapons.
6.) Reset the game again.

I have the same problem and I'm not used to mouse and keyboard, so I feel your pain. Doing this works for me, so try it.

It should be configed so if you press another button while presing the directional buttons, their functionality will modify while you have than other button held down, which would allow for 8 weapon slots to fit into 4 buttons, 2 for each direction depending on if another button input is held or not.

this does work however I does kinda mess up the wepons selection abit (crowbar now in catagory 3 etc.) but it's ok when using game pad however I'd still like to see if i can get it working with out this fix (curiosity reasons etc.)

Wait is it supposed to look like this? http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=269140186

if your talking about have two weapons slots for each direction then your forgeting about the wepons that are shown diagonally

Anyway, how does it play with the controller? Does it snap on enemies when aiming?
