Solved the enigma behind the G-man

Had this conversation on fb with my friend. Its lengthy, but very worth reading. He and I discussed some loopholes in it but we solved those. Plz ask questions or doubts you have about this. Would love to hear feedback.




The man is never called anything in game. We simply know hes the gman by ingame code. We also know that in half life 2 the combine npc attack the gman while the rebels and their allies leave him alone. Now the name gman is exactly what it means. He's a government man, and his employers he talked about in half life 1 were obviously government people. Now

In the first half life, he gave Gordon Freeman was given two choices in the transdimensional tram in the finale of half life 1.


He obviously chose to work for the gman's employers according to canon. Thereafter, freeman went on stasis sleep until the events of half life 2

Most people dont realize, freeman agreed to work for the government and the gman, he is controlled by them, he's led by the gman not stalked throughout the whole game to do what the government wants

Now

Eli confessed that freeman and him know about the gman before

Eli knows the gman rescued alyx from black mesa

Eli also mentions that Gordon and himself know that the gman was the one to bring them the crystal that would open the portal in black mesa. He forced them to proceed with the experiment even though Eli did not want to

So why would the gov want the gman to make them use the crystal?

Why would aperture go to great lengths to use their technology?

Simply to achieve power

The quest for it is obvious

Now the consequences were great

And hence the gov needed to clean their OWN mess in black messa

So they sent military spec ops to dispose of the aliens and the facility staff

No witnesses

Common in most gov institutions

They dont want anyone knowing that the gov ♥♥♥♥ed up

And that aliens defeated the military forces that were sent to stop them

It would be both embarrassing and cause panic in the population

So

Who in the world knows about the gman being the one directly at fault of causing black mesa?

Gordon works for the gov since he works better than military and did what they couldn't do

And Eli got killed by the end of ep 2

Now why Eli of all ppl

The gman follows and guides gordon

The unforseen consequences he told Eli through alyx are obvious

Eli let black mesa happen. And he's been struggling with that memory ever since

He feels guilty for having let it go wrong and letting the gman push him to do it

So its not weird that the gman would finish the job the military couldnt

Kill all witnesses

He lured the combine to that hangar

And Eli wanted to stop Gordon and alyx from using the aperture ship's power against the combine since it was too dangerous

But doesn't it all seem similar?

Hence Eli mentions when he sees the borealis

He's out of breath

Scared

That there will be another black mesa

This time he wont allow it

But does the gov ignore danger for the chance of power against an enemy?

Hell yeah they dont care

The gman waaaaants Gordon to do what he wants

And he wants to use the borealis

To defeat the combine

The gman led Gordon to whiteforest

Cuz he needed that rocket to be launched

The gman saved alyx, and let Gordon save her from dying

Alyx is also his slave. She does what he tells her and wants her to do

She's crucial like freeman because she found the key to defeat the combine

To disrupt their plans

She's a good asset like Freeman proved to be in Half lfie 1

The gman wants to beat the combine. That's his job

Hence his npc is attacked by combine npcs if u can delete certain walls in the game

The gman is stopped by the aliens that help the rebels. Forgot how to spell their name but they wake Gordon up from his stasis on half life 2. They try to restrain the gman from freeman because they know he's dangerous

He wants to beat the combine but he does not care for the costs

Even then Gordon being awake when he's not supposed to doesn't matter

He works for the gman

Freeman is a gman

He fulfills their will

Freeman does the gov will all the time without knowing it

He's a slave

As does Alyx

She's a g-woman

Doing what the g-man tell her to do as well

Alyx had that instance after she was rescued by Gordon in which she reacted whent he g-man spoke to her

She's also chosen

So

We also know that the combine already is int he Borealis, they attacked the rebels there

Aperture worked on portal technology just like their Black Mesa competitors.

Could the combine literally create another black mesa like Eli mentioned? Another portal in which they can invade the world?

The g-man wants Gordon and Alyx to use something in the Borealis as a weapon to beat the Combine, but the Combine might also use it to fulfill their own needs. This part remains a mystery.

Also, one other doubt. The g-man works for his employers, the government that failed to kill everything in Black Mesa. The soldiers Gordon encounters in Half Life 1. However, why does a government that might not even still exist want to help humanity? A humanity that is barely on its feet, almost extinct.

Maybe the government only uses the rebels for their own interest agaisnt the Combine, for themselves only. This is, of course, another mystery.

The G-man is only an employee, who's behind that grim face?

on the contrary, some people look waaaaay too deep compared to this. This just connects dots, not speculate.

Interesting. My personal theory is that he runs a sort of space PMC, and when he finds incredibly talented people, he adds them in to his collection and will eventually release them for a sort of badass army-takeover situation.

He will be the second-to-last boss; taken out of stasis by the G-Man to defend himself from Gordon. Then after Gordon kills Shephard who is forced to fight, he will kill the G-Man.
