Gmod is just a sanbox game which will get overshadowed by S&box
I see it as trying to have the best possible experience for the money. Many games are just meh without mods. Mods in Half-Life made Counter-strike happen. It is usually quite a deal breaker for me if there is no mod support. Since after many years, there still might be bugs and community fixes for them.
I do know, I went through the games list on Moddb yesterday. But that is something I would need to manually install.
For me, I had a fun experience in Fallout 4 still with it being a ♥♥♥♥ game, I added mods that would contemplate and fix the game.
