She doesn´t add anything that revelant the story ... at all , she only exists to save Gordon , Eli and Alyx at the end of the game.
if you remove her , the story remains pratically the same;
The Combine eventually captures Eli in some way , they aren´t that stupid.
Alyx probably gets cornered & captured in the "follow freeman!" chapter , since we assume shes fighting alongside the rebels.
Breen´s ego makes him foolishly assume that Gordon Freeman will join the Combine ,
Opening the pod... And the rest is the expected...
those are some of the reasons why i find her interesting, i like her bickering with Alyx aswell and I always felt there was something more to that than just Alyx and Judith being a bit petty. Like maybe Alyx disliking her due to the fact that Judith's close to her father, and in a way i feel like Alyx might see it as her trying to "replace" her mother. Idk I always felt like VALVe was trying to imply something there, but that's just me speculating lol
Ah you bring up some fair points, and I respect your opinion.
Like imagine if we got Half-Life comics or something! I mean TF2 got some, and they ended up expanding on the lore and characters of the game pretty nicely. What if Half-Life got similar treatment? I feel like if they just explored more with the characters it would help with them, including Mossman, being a little less mid. I mean there's so much we don't know about them. How did Judith end up becoming a double agent? What does Eli know about G-man? How do they all feel about their current situation? What do they struggle with? (besides the obvious threat of the combine ofc). There's so many blanks they could fill, and I just feel like the easiest way to do that is by making comics for Half-Life. But knowing VALVe, that'll prob never end up happening :,D
While I somewhat get your point of view, I feel like I have to desagree.
Just ask yourself these questions:
For how long has she been a double agent for Breen?
Why is she making sure Alyx is regularly outside on the field and not working with her father?
Once she caught wind of freeman actually being in city 17, she used her connection with Doctor Breen and the Combine to rat out Black Mesa East, capturing Eli so Gordon and Alyx gets lead to the Depot Entanglement Chamber.
Although risky, she played her cards right and brought Eli to the citadel, where She once again. Made Alyx and Gordon go after Eli... Alyx's capture was only a stroke of luck on Judith's end as she now has possession of Alyx's multitool. And we all know how it plays out.
She's been playing Doctor Breen like a fool the whole time, while also sacrificing her loyalty to the both the resistance and the combine.
Dude... Who cares?
