Disappearing Bodies - Full Solution for all games?

After returning to HL2 since the update, I noticed NPCs instantly disappear when killed. This ruins the immersion factor and stops me from playing the game. I know why Valve do this, to make the game as efficient as possible, but they should give players the option of enabling in settings if they want.

So far, I have found this which fixed the issue in HL2 campaign:

Whilst this details the folder path in HL2:Update, the same logic can be applied and the config.cfg can be updated located here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life 2\hl2\cfg

I pasted the values into the cfg, saved the file, ran HL2 and bodies remained on screen after being killed.

The only issue is, now I've progressed to HL2:Ep1, bodies disappear again. Not instantly like HL2. They remain on screen but there seems a limit many will remain. E.g. If you kill 6 NPCs, turn around then look back, 3 or 4 bodies will be gone. After, I checked the cfg and saw the values I added had been removed, I think Ep1 overwrites the cfg. Now, when i paste the values and try loading Ep1, bodies still disappear. I tried updating other cfgs located here but had no effect either:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life 2\episodic\cfg
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life 2\hl2_complete\cfg

I have not tried Episode 2 yet but expect the same behaviour.

Strangely, HL2:LC did accept the config lines and bodies remained on screen.

Is there a way to make bodies remain on screen in Ep1 & Ep2? If not, do Valve review these discussions / accept feature requests?

Also, cl_ragdoll_collide "1" for ragdoll collision has not worked / removed for some time, is there a way to make 'something' like this work?

By any chance, did you purchase a censored (German) version of the game? If so, you can contact steam support and the will remove the restriction. This will not take long.

There is a mod called Corpses Last Forever (and Unlimited Decals) on the workshop it works together with the Script MultiLoader mod. This is the fix you are looking for.

It works well for HL2, but I tried it with EP1 and it works only somehow, a lot of bodies remain, but some still dissapear.
