Half Life is overrated
Yes ive said it. (also no inclusive characters for the remaster!!!). ive replayed HL2 recently and the gameplay is somewhat boring, too many bullet sponge enemies. when I think of revolutionary games like hl1 and 2 claim to be I think of something like operation flashpoint not linear run and gun shooter.

Narratively and mechanically it changed FPS forever.

I think medal of honer and Call of duty did more of that than half life ever did.

In which manner? Can you tell what MoH did better than Half-Life? I'm not even considering CoD to ever revolutionize anything since MoH brought the military shooter first.

And even then Half-Life has more ties to Quake than Call of.

PS: Even Goldeneye, released a year prior, brought new things to the table in the genre before military shooters did.

I don't understand which game is the remaster.

Half Life 2 with a recent 20th Anniversary Patch
Half-Life 2 RTX
Half-Life 2: Update

Agreed, people love it because "muh nostalgia!!!!!!!" and "it redefined FPS forever!!!!!!!!!!"
But never "because it's a good game"

Curious point.

Cod was born because old moh dev had enough of it and wanted to do something different.
Then cod stagnated early on.
Quite static games on the ww2.
Then they soft rebooted it with mw1.
Still quite, well, static
And somewhere along mw3 most experienced dev at infinity wards leaved.

What did we got with cod, from mw1 onward?
We lost dedicated servers.
We lost community maps.
On pc!

Cod made pc games go backward on the most basic side of a singleplayer /multiplayer game.

You may want to find a better point for comparison.
Cod is not a good one.

Game of the Year in 2000 was Counterstrike. Half-Life was a father as we know because Counterstrike was only a mod of Half-Life.

A employee at Microsoft was angry about he wasnt able he couldn't play on his favorite game DOOM on Windows. He helped Microsoft programming an API called DirectX which turned Windows into a gaming platform.
That guy also recognized the upcoming internet is a way to distribute software and the shareware model was born.
That guy founded a company for selling games over the Internet. We know all his name. Its Gabe Newell.
nope, its a 2004 shooter game, it's still fun to this day, most of the enemies are killed pretty fast, the ones that resist more are "bosses".
it changes the pace a lot for a single player game, its just plain fun.

PC control? Nope, you got it backward.

Controller? Still no. Have you heard of Halo Combat Evolved?

At least try and pretend you are not stupid.

And it was Halo that made controller mapping standard.
