Seems to work fine in Episode 1 + Half Life 2
So I think that the command does work, however Hl2 doesn't have the model unless you subscribe to a gnome model replacement mod. It's not perfect (it won't be a gnome) but it should work if you enable a gnome model replacement such as this one: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3368539081&searchtext=gnome
*Edit: Just disabled all my mods and it didn't work, then just enabled that mod and it seemed to work
That may be the issue some are having.
Edit: Just type "prop_physics_create props_junk/gnome.mdl;ent_setname gnome"
It seems like the command does work, but only if using a model replacement. Working on a fix that should allow the gnome to stay a gnome

Remember to use prop_physics_create props_junk/gnome.mdl;ent_setname gnome
-HL2 can only access HL2 assets.
-Episode 1 can access HL2 and Episode 1 assets.
-Episode 2 can access HL2, Episode 1 and Episode 2 assets.
So yeah, without adding it with a mod the gnome model doesn't exist for hl2 or ep1.
Makes sense. From Hl2 and Ep1 perspective, you will never encounter the gnome so it would be useless to load the model and just take up resources
