Dev Commentary breaks once I reach Follow Freeman
Has anyone else had this problem and or found a solution? None of the nodes appear anymore and the commentary was the whole reason I wanted to do another playthrough.

I have the same issue at the same chapter.
I checked the commentaries of other chapters on youtube.
Just played through and the last commentary I got was about sniper alley and the manhack dev hall. I was wondering why that happened.

I did start a new save at "Our Benefactors" and instantly saw a dev bubble outside the 1st tunnel; I though it odd that non was there when I reached the area from "Follow Freeman!", really was a place that I expected to see one.
Somewhere after Sniper Alley in "Follow Freeman!", I guess the Dev Commentary enable flag just, becomes disable?

yeah I tried the same thing and it worked. I think you're right. Some kind of flag bug in Follow Freeman around the time you reach Barney is the likely culprit.
I lost commentary immediately after the ones about sniper alley / meeting back up with Barney.
I also have this bug. I'm going to see if I can fix it with console commands
I was unable to fix it with console commands.
I can get the bubbles in sniper alley to re-enable, but commands don't enable any others, and occasionally they get re-disabled ('Commentary' and 'enable commentary' become 0, but even when they are 1 there's no commentary to be seen).

Which is a bummer because I'm really curious to hear the bubble that I am certain is in the Mission Impossible room (you know the one I mean)
Unfortunately there aren't any commentary nodes inside the museum AT ALL. The first one only shows up on the roof next to the supression device.

I've been super impressed by how much love every single map in the game has been getting so far with regards to commentary nodes, but it feels like they run out of steam in the city rebellion chapters.

That's mostly understandable, because the lion's share of the gameplay stuff has already been mentioned by then. Still, especially in the museum it feels like there's a lot of stuff they could have talked about. Would have been cool to get some information about how they iterated on that entire section.

Also, I ''fixed'' it by reverting to the previous public build of the game, starting new game from the chapter ''Follow Freeman'' (with commentary nodes ON), noclipping through the first map (the one with the snipers) to the end just before it loads the new map -> noclip OFF -> go to the next map. Barney will just spawn there and give his little comment about how you need to storm the museum etc.

However the next node (on the roof next to the suppression device) was off as well, so I had to type ''Commentary 1'' in console to make it (and subsequent nodes in the courtyard with the striders) appear as well. However, by the time I got to the node in ''Our Benefactors'' it had disappeared again.
But by then you can just start new game again on that chapter with nodes on and it seems to work again.

And yeah, a lot of messy and inefficient workarounds for something I hope gets fixed soon. Kind of ruined the pace of my evening.
if you die on a map without commentary nodes. it sets the commentary mode to false/ commentary 0. you can fix this by tipping in the console, commentary 1.

I had this problem too - the next map that actually has commentary is the nexus rooftop it seems (both the nexus exterior and interior show commentary_available=0 in the console) so to go to that map with commentary nodes just put
map_commentary d3_c17_11
into the console to load up the rooftop with commentary on - first node is right next to the now-disabled suppressor, if you want to check it's working

Doing it this way doesn't seem to let it break again and I was able to continue and finish the game without further problems
